Newcastle Tile Co supplied and installed porcelain and reconstituted stone to the 2600m’ Newcastle Airport Expansion Project. Our tiles were used throughout the food court, amenities, lounge and seating areas.
Several of the tiling spaces were incorporated with Hearing Loop – this is a system laid under the tiles to provide a magnetic wireless signal to hearing aids and broadcasts the public announcements of the airport.
The project presented several other unique challenges including marrying old and new slab substrates, pre & post sealing, slip resistant etching and night works – all while navigating the increased security that comes with working in a fully operational airport 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
